Somatics as Lifestyle

Major Questions

  • What does it mean to take these ideas EVERYWHERE with me?
  • What does it mean for something to affect every aspect of my life?
  • How can you make your life a more “embodied” experience
  • Return to Idea of I AM BODY

Part 1: Who are you in your every day life?

Set up a scenario you can do multiple ways- Walking

  • -Sense of animal self
  • -Sense of perceived self
  • -Sense of felt/experienced self
  • -Sense of self with others –greeting each other

Something as basic as walking can reveal a lot about us. I am asking the group to exaggerate this idea by intentionally focusing on amplifying certain aspects, but that this is a very natural occurrence in our daily lives.

Part 2: Now take this experience into a different environment- Outside!

  • Reference previous week’s sensing experience
  • -Read Becoming Animal pages
  • -What is it like to sense THIS MUCH?
  • Physical challenges of a new space
  • -Particularly “animal self” might come more alive, more real, in an environment animals might actually have to deal with.
